How we work

The Climate Value Exchange is a collaborative network of networks, anchored by a group of nonprofit core partners. Partners and members of wider networks work through the Climate Value Exchange to share insights, seed new partnership efforts, and co-design the structure of cooperative climate crisis response, primarily in line with Article 6.8 of the Paris Agreement and the PARIS Principles.

Copyright & Licensing

In general, Climate Value Exchange (CVE) content is intended for global distribution. Partners retain their own licensing standards for all work contributed here, so before re-publishing any content beyond standard citations, it is best to reach out to us or to the cited lead partner for any particular post or linked resource.

Our standard license for CVE-original material

Material that is original to the CVE and posted here first, or which does not already carry another licensing protection from contributing partners, will carry a Creative Commons CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 DEED or Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International license.

This allows for sharing and adapting CVE content, under the following terms.

  1. Attribution — You must give appropriate credit, provide a link to the license, and indicate if changes were made. You may do so in any reasonable manner, but not in any way that suggests the licensor endorses you or your use.
  2. NonCommercial — You may not use the material for commercial purposes.
  3. ShareAlike — If you remix, transform, or build upon the material, you must distribute your contributions under the same license as the original.
  4. No additional restrictions — You may not apply legal terms ortechnological measures that legally restrict others from doing anything the license permits.

IP protection

The non-commercial restriction does not preclude commercial entities from using insights shared to develop their own innovative climate crisis response-related products and services. It does, however, bar commercial entities from converting CVE content, or content from partners or contributors, into brand-specific or purported original content, without express, written consent of the originators of that content.

The non-commercial restriction also requires that all commercial entities accessing any work-product of other commercial entities through public or private CVE platforms respect existing intellectual property standards and claims.
